Non- Traditional Christmas

This lil creation is for Susie & Vikki's Christmas Card Challenge where the theme is Non-Traditional Christmas. Since the sponsor this month is the Prairie Fairy & I am an Honorary DT member for this fine young lady, I thought I would use one of her images for their card.

This image is called RooCat in The Stocking and can be purchased here. I am sorry about the glare on the top right embellishment.I believe it says Seasons Greetings! I colored Roo & his stocking with watercolor pencils & added some liquid applique to the top of the stocking. Ribbon, ribbon, ribbon is the theme of my card, obviously!!

Fun Friday time again!

It's time for another challenge over at Prairie Fun Fridays and here is the sketch we were given to work with.

Other challenges I am also entering this card in is: Dutch Dare Card Challenge where the theme is summer in winter & Fab'n'Funky Challenges where the theme is to use any digi image or sentiment.

I took a different approach and elongated the card (skipping the paper in the center- sorry!). The image I used is from Prairie Fairy Designs under Sugar & Spice.......it is called 'hanging out'. I like to see it as dreaming, thus the saying 'day dreaming' !

I colored her with some sort of markers I bought on sale somewhere. They didn't work the best but didn't turn out too bad overall. I did a bit of hand stitching with thick strings purchased from a craft store. Another thing I did was used my SU chalk to shade the sky and grass..........I FOGOT I HAD THAT CHALK!!! I am using it regularily now!! As for the embellishments, well sometimes I tend to go overboard! oops! heehee! Hopefully this will be us, soon enough, day dreaming on the grass on a nice summer day (here's to dreaming, I guess)!

My Lil' ol man!

Well, I woke up this morning, just waiting to be inspired and fortunately enough, after checking the challenges out there, there were 3 that allowed my creative juices to start flowing. One of which I have not entered before today!

First off, I am entering this card in the Digital Tuesday Challenge- with the theme being "Make Those Men Laugh". How lucky am I to be doing a gentle-manly card, considering it is my father-in-law's birthday next month!!! Perfect timing!!

I am also entering this card in the A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge - where the theme is Freestyle!! WOOHOO!! My favorite type!

Lastly I am participating in (for the first time) Stamping Vacation- Pick 3 Challenge !
For the Pick 3 Challenge I chose- Masculine card with feminine touch (ribbon), the circle shape is repeated in ribbon, embossed background & Hodge Podge hardware (hanging from ribbon), and my Lil' ol man is wearing Leather shoes (starts with L).

Once I realized the perfect image was right under my nose, my thoughts were racing. This image can be found at the Prairie Fairy Design (Digital Stamp) store under Just for Laughs (can you see why)! haha.

I printed off my Lil man, then HAD to pick the papers, since I knew I had some authentic ol'man papers somewhere in my mess!! Sure enough, the card slowly came together with a bit of embossing, coloring, layering, stamping, sponging & embellishing!

The Birthday saying is from CTMH- Card Sentiments, and the "Rock On" statement is from another CTMH set- You Rock!
Happy Birthday Mr. Smyrski (my dad in law)! Hope you enjoy the card!

Gingerbread anyone?!

Well, here I am with a wintery, wonderland card. The inspiration for this card came from waking up this morning to almost a foot of snow outside our door! A blizzard, yup, that's what I'm talking about, so I thought, may as well get in the spirit of things.

Another inspiration for this card was the fantastic digital designs pulled together by my team leader over at Prairie Fairy Designs. She whipped up a couple of digital designs in a matter of hours and thought I would share this one called Gingergirl !

I am entering this card in Susie & Vicki's Christmas Club Challenge, as it appears this is THE PLACE TO BE! Making cards throughout the year to avoid a big ol Christmas-paper-pile-up-mess in December, sounds like a good idea to me. The theme for this challenge is (you guessed it) Gingerbread!

I am using the sketch from Card Patterns Sketch #48. I found this sketch very user friendly.

The DP is from CTMH and the snowflakes are Dies from Sizzix (borrowed from the Prairie Fairy herself). I incorporated a stamp set from CTMH called "All Decked Out" to make the Gingergirls hat and scarf (& swirlies on the blue background). I also used my NEW punch from Stampin' Up for the saying (which is also a SU special). Misc ribbon, glitter and a brad finished off my SU marker & watercolor pencil colored gingergirl!!

Hope you like her!!

Change in plans- 4 for 1

This sketch is from the Digital Tuesday Challenge blog & I am entering the card I made below into it.

I made this card, over at the Prairie Fairy's house one afternoon......and perfected it at home, finally, finishing it today. The butterfly is from the Prairie Fairy Digital Design line called Sketchy Bugs and can be purchased here. As part of the Prairie Fairy DT, I will be posting this card at the Prairie Fun Friday challenge blog. Come check it out !

Also, I am entering this card in the Charisma Cardz Challenge where the theme is "Fruity Colors" & A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge "Lots of Layering".

The papers & ribbon are CTMH, sentiment is stampin up and flowers are misc. I am trying to perfect the use of the Cuttlebug with my scalloped circles !

My First Magnolia Stamp!

Well here is the card I made (at work) with my blog candy I won from Lori ! Included in the candy was the Magnolia rubber stamp and the picture frame type thing she is sitting on!

The background paper is CTMH as is the little arrow at the top pointing toward the CTMH saying 'friendship'. Flowers, brads and beads are misc. items.

Aside from me and Ms. Magnolia's face having a fight with attempting rosy cheeks, I am overall pleased with the way she turned out!! I can't wait to use her more often. Not too bad for a 12 hour night shift!! haha

Bedtime Bella.......Prairie Fairy Design

GUILTY- I reminded the Prairie Fairy about this design, because is it not only one of my favourite designs, but I made a card with it, that I have since given away. Snapped a few shots beforehand of course............so when I didn't see it on her website, I was shocked!
Finally here she is Bedtime Bella making her debut. She can be purchased online at Prairie Fairy Digital Stamps store

I am also entering this card in the Charisma Cardz Challenge & AllSorts Challenge

The paper is CTMH. The embellishements are a mix mash of what I already had.....a flower, brads, eyelets, buttons, thread type string, a vellum type oval label and some glitter for her slippers. The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

I can't recall how I colored her. Perhaps watercolor pencil crayons, perhaps Roberta's copics?! Regardless, she turned out GREAT!

As previously mentioned, I gave this card away to not just a single person, but to a group of people who helped my daughter and eased my anxiety . Last June my daughter was having alot of respiratory issues (not common for her at all, which is why it was scary for me), so we went to our nearest children's hospital (after being recommended to do so by her pediatrician), where they took great care of us.

She was diagnosed with pneumnia, had the H1N1 swab, given antibiotics and after about a week of not being able to lay flat on her back, we were on the road to recovery. She has been fine ever since , but I made this card for the Children's Hospital Staff, as a reminder to them, that the work that each and every one of those people do, does NOT ALWAYS go unrecognized!!

Have a great day everyone!

CANDY From Linda- Prairie Fairy DT member

Here we have some lovely candy from Linda. She is a member of the Prairie Fairy DT and has some wonderful work showcased on her website at PinkLilacs . Her candy (see pic) is perhaps in celebration of her BSc. or perhaps just because she is one genuine lady. She will be making the draw on February 1st! WooHoo!!

FAIRY PRINCESS DESIGNS..........

Here's a treat for ya! These TWO designs are by the Fairy Princess herself and can be purchased at the Prairie Fairy Digital Design website ( http://www.prairiefairydesigns.com/ ) .
The little fella's stamp is actually called "Bunny love"......and it was only after printing it, coloring it and making the card, did I realize this............so, instead you have my version of puppy love! I colored her with watercolor pencil crayons (blended with blender pens) & markers.
Same goes for the sentiment, markers and pencil crayons. I am still debating whether or not I should chalk in a blue/green background to give the card a more finished appearance. Oh, decisions, decisions!
I figured I better get busy, what with Valentines day just around the corner, what better way to surprise my hubby! (too bad he saw it already)!!
These cute digital images & many more can be purchased at the above website. Plus don't forget to check out the Prairie Fairy & Fairy Princess blogs at http://www.prairiefairy.blogspot.com/ & http://www.prairiefairyprincess.blogspot.com/ !!

Prairie Fairy Design

Thought I should get my act in gear and design another card with a digital design from the Prairie Fairy. This little fairy can be purchased at http://www.prairiefairydesigns.com/.
Besides the fact that I am the poster child for "inconsistent blogger" , this card should put me in the green for a while......PLUS I owe a great big thank you to a co-worker & her husband for making my daughter smile! This card should suffice.
I used gel pens to color this little lady, some of them are glittery and some aren't. CTMH paper is used as the main backdrop with a layer of (personally, by hand- thanks hubby for no cuttlebug this Christmas! [snap] ) star embossed paper. CTMH red organza ribbon accents the 'cherries' in the picture & glitter is placed on her wings. Misc brads, stars and label (with Stampin up notation) finish off the card. Don't forget the pop dots!!

Prairie Fairy Fun Friday Challenge Sketch

I was sent a sketch by the Prairie Fairy herself and asked to participate in the challenge blog, so naturally I gave in and 3 hrs later I have a card accomplished! That's what happens when you don't do this 'creative card thing' regularily!

I was also asked by my mom to create a card for her friend who is turning 80 this weekend. I thought I would get the whole 'kill 2 birds with one stone' thing done here! The inside of the card says "Growing up is optional"- a stamp from CTMH I recently purchased.

This lil' bitty-lady will be available off the Prairie Fairy Digital Stamp site as soon as it is up and running properly without any hitches! She is colored with Stampin Up markers and watercolor pencils. Some of the papers are CTMH, the orange with flowers is Misc. paper picked up at Scrapaganza. I am overall pleased with the way this card turned out!

My 'Adorable' puppy card. Made with a couple Stampin Up sets & misc. paper! I just love pinks & browns together. Colored with Stampin Up watercolor pencil crayons!

NEW CARDS

I should get my butt in gear and get some cards up. That's what happens when you work 12 hr days (3 in a row), you get tired and lazy and not in the mood to do anything! Especially feeling like a stuffed pig lately (being 32 weeks prego) and running after 2 other children in my off time, as well as getting maybe 3-4 hrs of sleep a night due to back pain and so forth and so on......yes, swiss cheese with that 'wine' please!! I am a comin', one day at a time!
